Genetic thrillers probably need to be a closed genre. The Nephilim Seed is not on of Bell's better books, unfortunately. though he is getting better at the suspenseful settings in his books, genetic thriller is that last thing he needed to try.
A certain lawyer is being battled in court by her ex-husband for the custody of their daughter. He wins, but not in court. He wins by kidnapping her. Reluctantly, she hires a bounty hunter to help look for her. From there, they are thrust into a web of deceit and danger.
A secret genetic group is developing an electronic device called the Nephilim Seed. When inserted into the brain, it makes the "victim" become superhuman and basically crazy. The lawyer's husband is apparently part of this group.
While the book is interesting to read, there is no way to end genetic thrillers but the predictable way. I mean, there are other ways, but none that will sell.
The characters are pretty bland.
Basically, it won't hurt you to read this book, just don't let it keep you up at night.
