As a new author bursting onto the scene, Jason Elam has made a name for himself in the writing world. He already had a name one in the NFL, if you follow football like I do.
Anyway, Monday Night Jihad makes a name for itself with new twists no one has ever thought of. It's about a pro linebacker\ex military agent who suddenly finds himself in a web of terrorists striking unknown targets in America. Jason does a good job here of mixing genres without making it sound too cheesy. Somebody needed to do something with the sports genre.
While some of it is predictable, some of it is not. Jason invents several new plot techniques for the terror genre that no one has ever created before.
Though the lead is a perfect character, the rest are not really perfect at all.
The only problem I would raise is Elam's changing of all the NFL team names. He also changed the league to the PFL, the Professional Football League. This change is completely unnecessary, unless there was some kind of copyright issue. However, Elam is a grade A author in my book with this impressive debut.
