As a rookie legal author, Randy Singer has made a rookie mistake.
Directed Verdict follows the story of radical lawyer Brad Carson as he takes on the impossible case of defending Sarah, whose husband was killed in Saudi Arabia while they were missionaries there. She and her husband is being accused by the Saudi government of keeping cocaine in their apartment. So Brad Carson decides to sue the whole government too.
Now, this notion is ridiculous and a popular rookie legal mistake, as I said. It's a good that this is his first book.
Besides the dumb plot structure, there is an "evil" judge who Singer makes a great point to show that she hates Brad with a vengeance.
Also, Singer betrayed one of his good characters by changing her personality halfway through to make her fit into a certain part.
The upside is Singer has pretty good characters for a debut novel. But that's about it.
Basically, the public loves this look because they like absurd legal "suspense"
However, I do not.
